Bunbury Church Bells
|
John Elsworth's excellent summary of the history of our church bells and of the proposals to refurbish them has stimulated much interest in the parish. I have heard such comments as, "To some the bells are Bunbury Church," "Is it really 75 years since any major work was done on them?" and, "How do I make a contribution?" The purpose of this note is just to continue John's last sentence. He wrote, "Private donations will of course be most welcome." Some £5,600 is already available and grants will be sought, but the P.C.C. will hope to have a really worthwhile response from the parish to the project when it considers meeting any balance from possible Restoration funds. Therefore, to all who receive the Parish Link and who value our church bells, please consider making a donation to the Bell Fund. All tax-payers are asked to do so using a Gift Aid form. (This will attract tax refunds from the Government - see our Treasurer's article last month.) Donations and completed forms can be given to any church officers. Walter Done (Church Warden) |
