Hi There!

FORTY DAYS AND FORTY NIGHTS

Lent before Easter is like Advent before Christmas, a time of preparation. Lent is when we remember that Jesus prepared himself for beginning his ministry by forty days of fasting and prayer. You can read about it in your Bible:

Matthew, chapter 4, verses 1 to 11;
Mark, chapter 1, verses 12 to 13;
Luke, chapter 4, verses 1 to 13.

Jesus went into the wilderness - a quiet, lonely place away from people - where he could think things out. He knew that his work would be hard, that many people would not listen to him, or, if they listened, they would not believe him. During these forty days, Jesus made his choice: to work in God's way, no matter how hard it might be.

This year, Lent starts on February 13th. Have you thought about how you are going to prepare yourself this Lent?
