THE MILLENNIUM WINDOW We were delighted to read in The Chester Chronicle that Mr. Glyn Downes and his Committee had received recognition for their efforts in providing Bunbury Church with the Millennium Window, when Mr. Downes was presented with the Parish Council Chairman's Cup for the year 2000-2001. Many people in both the church and the village were involved in this enterprise, and Mr. Downes acknowledged that he was receiving the Cup on behalf of them all. We were a little surprised, however, that there was no mention of Mr. Bert Thornhill, who originated the idea and attended a meeting with the Parish Council to obtain their enthusiasm and co-operation. We hope that this makes the record complete, as the magnificent window is a credit to all concerned and a fitting reminder of the Millennium to pass down the years. G. Wilgose [Editor's Note: Mr. Thornhill is a former Church Warden of St. Boniface and is remembered chiefly for the restoration of the Parclose Screens - the panels to be seen on the wall of the south aisle. (The story of these panels and their restoration is something to be kept for a future issue!) Mr. Thornhill now lives at Richmond Village, in Nantwich, where he appreciates visits from old friends and being kept up to date with Bunbury news.] next page www.megaquest
