1 Sunday Schools: Special Services were held on Sunday, August 11th, for the Sunday Schools. The sermon in the morning was preached by the Rev. E.W. Evans, Vicar of Little Budworth, and the Sun- day School Teachers "must have felt very much encouraged by the helpful words he addressed to them in the course of his sermon."
"The Children's Service in the afternoon was largely attended, both by members of the Sunday School and their parents."
"At Evensong there was a large congregation, who joined heartily in the singing of the well-known children's hymns."
2 Harvest Festival: "The Harvest Festival this year will be held (D.V.) on the first Wednesday in Oc- tober, and continued on the following Sunday. The services of special preachers for the Wednesday afternoon and evening, and also for the Sunday, will hopefully be secured. The offertories on Wednesday will be devoted to the Chester Infirmary and the Church of England Waifs and Strays. The offer- tories on the Sunday will be in aid of the Mersey Mission to Seamen, when at Matins and Evensong the Sermon will be preached by one of the Chaplains connected with the Mission."
3 Band of Hope: "On Friday, August 9th, the Band of Hope met as usual at Foxdale for the Annual Treat. Every detail had been most carefully made and carried out under the supervision of Mrs. Aspinall, who for many years past has done so much for promoting the principles of Temperance in the Parish. The children, after singing various hymns and songs ( prayer having been offered up by the Vicar), listened with rapt attention to a most interesting address delivered by Dr. Cogswell. At the close, the Vicar proposed a very hearty vote of thanks to Mrs. Aspinall for her great kindness, and expressed a hope that she might be spared for many years. The vote of thanks was acknowledged by the Rev. Dr. Cogswell.
Later in the afternoon, after having indulged in games and sports, the children sat down to a sumptuous tea in the Public Hall. At the close, Mr. Brocklebank [Church Warden] gave a short address. Then followed the Distribution of Prizes, which were numerous and useful."
