Calveley Church

It is with some satisfaction that we pride ourselves on having a warm church in the winter months. - So we were not best pleased when we found that the heating system had failed an hour or so before the Christmas Eve service. Luckily it had been working during the day and some warmth remained, but this gradually went so that by the last hymn we could even see Trevor's breath. Happily, all is now put right, but the heating engineer found that the oil tank is leaking. That's yet another job for the future.

During the Christmas Eve service, a Credence Table, to replace the one that was stolen, was placed in Church and blessed by Trevor. This had been presented to the Church by Mrs. Crowther in memory of her late husband Denys. Walter Williamson,

who knew Denys well, said a few words about him and in particular paid tribute to his work for Calveley Church. His legacy lives on.

Looking forward to February 4th, we again welcome the St. Christopher Chorale, who will lead and inspire us with their high standard of singing. For all who enjoy a Sung Matins and those yet to experience the same, don't miss out, as you are assured of a real treat.

During our service on the 18th, February, we are to have the Baptism of Kate, the latest addition to the family of Roland and Sandra Edge. We hope that as many parishioners as possible will attend to welcome her into our community.

During this month the Friends of Calveley Church will be meeting to discuss matters of ongoing maintenance and future activities.
