Calveley Church Our Bonfire Party gave us our first opportunity to use the newly equipped vestry, which took on the appearance of a tuck shop and soup kitchen. The mulled wine was very popular and Trevor was seen to be enjoying the parkin. Thanks to Graham and Yvonne for sharing their bonfire with us. The windows in need of immediate restoration have been removed and should be re-installed next week, fully repaired. The visit to church by the Cheshire Historic Churches Preservation Trust in October to consider our grant application has resulted in an offer, subject to final approval, that should enable us to complete all of the projects deemed top priority by the end of the year. There then remains interior decorating and, of course, the organ to overhaul. The charity stall at Northwich Market had to be cancelled, but the plan now is to have some stalls and other activities at Calveley Church sometime in the spring. The children at Calveley School are busy designing the picture to front our Christmas card to the local community. They will judge the work themselves and provide us with the winning picture in time for the card to go out early in December, so that we are able to give notice of forthcoming services therein. Our thanks to Walter Williamson for leading our Remembrance Day Service in a church beautifully decorated with poppies for the occasion. As we draw near to Christmas, here is a reminder and invitation to you to join us for some or all of our services - all in a warm church. You will find the services as usual on Page 4 and also on the inside page of the special Christmas card cover, but please note the change on the 2nd, December from our usual First Sunday Matins to Holy Communion at 10.45 a.m. The Carol Service with Blessing of the Crib, at 10.45 a.m. on the 16th, December, is a family service and all are welcome. Advance notice: on Epiphany Sunday, the 6th, January, we are having a Christingle Service at 10.45 a.m. And, finally, don't forget the Sherry and Mince Pies on the 6th, December, from 7.00 p.m., at Parkside House, Calveley Hall Lane, courtesy of Mrs. Betty Edge.
