ADVENT 'How lovely on the mountains are the feet of the herald
who comes to proclaim peace and bring good news, the news of deliverance.'
(Isaiah LII, 7) |

| Advent calendars, rehearsals for choir and for the school nativity play, shopping and cooking, invitations, wrapping parcels - an exciting time! | In the wilderness of our lives a call goes out to be ready, to think again, to straighten ourselves out, to prepare for the One who is coming. |
We come to the joy of knowing that 'the grace of God has dawned upon the world with healing for all mankind.' (Titus II, 11) It is Christmas! |

Good wishes and thank you, to all of you who have worked
so well for the church this year nearly past. As well as to the "front"
people - lay readers, bellringers, organists, choir - particular thanks
to the "backstage" workers who have cleaned, polished brasses,
cared for the altar linen, arranged flowers, served coffee and made our
churches wel- coming to everyone. A very happy Christmas to you all! |

'There were shepherds out in the fields, keeping watch through the night over their flock, when suddenly there stood before them an angel of the Lord, and the splendour of the Lord shone round them. They were terror-stricken, but the angel said, "Do not be afraid; I have good news for you: there is great joy coming to the whole people. Today in the city of David a deliverer has been born to you - the Messiah, the Lord. And this is your sign: you will find a baby lying wrapped in his swaddling clothes, in a manger." (Luke 2:8-12) |
