Progress of the Children's Society Smartie Appeal:

To date, only 76 of the 300 Smartie tubes have been returned. Could the Treasurer please have the remaining 224 in aid of this most worthy cause?

Christian Aid: The Kosovo Appeal:

The Collections at St. Boniface, for the week ending Sunday, 11 April, augmented with a helpful donation to a total of £220, were donated to the Christian Aid Kosovo Appeal Fund. By a fortunate coincidence on that Sunday the congregations of both St. Jude and St. Boniface were addressed by Mrs. Linda Tiongco, who described the work of Christian Aid, as an introduction to the Christian Aid Week, 9-15 May.

The Young Christians Frugal Lunch

This was held in the Pavilion on Sunday, 18 April, shortly after the Morning Service. The event was well attended and all must have enjoyed the meal and the entertainment. The entertainment was mainly musical but there was a very well acted sketch about a 20th century Prodigal Son. Congratulations, especially to organisers Wendy Slack and Teri Williams, and to all those who helped in any way, even by just coming to the event. The proceeds were £320 and were sent to Christian Aid Third World Debt Relief Fund.

Coffee Morning at Brook Cottage, 19 April

A third Christian Aid event was the Coffee Morning at Mrs. Joyce Buxton's home at Brook Cottage, which was a great success. Joyce thanks all those who helped her, and all those who came along. A guest was Mrs. Tiongco, who took the opportunity to tell her listeners of her earlier charitable work in the Phillipines and how she became involved with Christian Aid. The Coffee Morning proceeds were £105, and this sum will help get the Christian Aid Week off to a good start.

After the three Christian Aid paragraphs were written, the Treasurer received a letter from the Liverpool Christian Aid Office which included:

"Thank you for your letter enclosing a cheque for £320.20 towards Third World Debt Relief on behalf of Bunbury Church. We are so pleased to bear of the generous donation of £220 made to the Kosovo Appeal by the congregation at Bunbury. We are also very grateful for the proceeds from a successful "Frugal lunch", organised by the Young Christians at Bunbury, and we are sending a "Thank-You Certificate" to their leader, Mrs. Teri Williams. We are grateful too to Mrs. Joyce Buxton for so generously holding the Coffee Morning which Linda attended.

Linda enjoyed her time with everyone in Bunbury on Sunday, 11th April, and appreciated the warm welcome she was given. She also commented that she had a lovely time at the Coffee Morning. We would like to express our thanks to all involved in these various events on behalf of Christian Aid and for the good wishes expressed in your letter."

A Word of Thanks

We would like to thank the Editors of the Parish Link and all our friends for their congratulations and good wishes on the occasion of our recent Golden Wedding. It has been a very happy time for us and the many messages received are much appreciated.
