Bishop Peter's Eight Marks of a Growing Church.
The leadership of the church longs for growth to occur and is supported in that longing.
The church is eager to build bridges into the community, as central to its mission.
Clear teaching is important, together with a sense of belonging to the wider tradition of the church. The church is willing to be unpopular if necessary.
The whole congregation is involved in the common life and decision making of the parish.
The church has a clear strategy in relation to children and young people - and towards any group which might tend to be left out.
There is an appropriate variety of worship and a commitment to excellence of worship.
An atmosphere of excellence and thoroughness is present throughout the activities of the church.
Undergirding all these characteristics, is a belief that God is at hand, that our lives are lived in an intimate relationship with Him - and hence the centrality of prayer, public and private.
How do we measure up? Please take a moment to reflect.
