The Clergy: "Mr Smythe left us on Whit-Monday. He has accepted the Curacy of Suckley near Worcester with sole charge of Alfrick. We all wish him every success in his new work and much happiness on his approaching marriage. Another clergyman will be appointed later to take his place. In the meantime, Mr. Hayward, a lay-reader trained at the S.P.C.K. College will look after Spurstow Sunday School and additional clerical help will be got for Sundays. On Sunday evening, June 4th the sermon will be preached by the Rev. EX Williams, Vicar of Little Budworth."
The Band of Hope: "The children connected with The Band of hope gave a very successful rendering of the Service of Song, entitled 'Jessica's First Prayer.' There was quite as large an attendance as could be expected, considering the lateness of the season. The charges were unduly high and we shall after paying expenses, be able to hand something over to the Girl's School. We shall hope to render this again in October when the charges for admission will be very low and further we intend to give a series of such entertainments throughout the winter. Our object is two fold, to give additional interest to the children of the Band of hope by employing them and so strengthen this good institution, and also to promote the cause of Christianity of which Temperance is an indispensable part by rendering these Services of Song which do undoubtedly appeal to our higher natures. Weekly meetings of the Band of hope will be held in the Girls' School at 7 p.m., which will be conducted by Mr. Hayward. We hope to begin at once to sell the Temperance Publication called the Young Crusader."
The Rummage Sale: "It is universally admitted that this was a great success. We thank most heartily all those who helped so willingly and so well. Although it meant hard work to all, yet those who helped so willingly and so well. Although it meant hard work to all, yet we are sure it gave still greater pleasure. Altogether we think after paying expenses we may have a balance of £40. We beg to acknowledge the following subscriptions:- Captain and Mrs. Gordon £2 2s, Mrs. Aspinall £1 1s, Miss Scott £1, Mr. Blain £1. We shall now be able to pay off all our three debts."

The Girls' School: " We are sorry to announce the resignation of Miss Hewitt. She has been with us several years and gained the respect of all, by her strong ideal of duty. We thank her for her services, not only to the Schools but also for the Choir and Band of Hope. Her successor is not yet appointed. We beg to thank Mr. William Baily for £3 1s, the proceeds of an entertainment given in the winter."
| 6 | Ascension Day: "It is pleasing to note that the number of communicants on this great Festival of the Church were nearly double the number of last year.
