YOUNG CHRISTIANS "LOCK-IN" AND FAMILY SERVICE

The Bunbury Young Christians were involved in a 24 hour fast in support of World Vision's appeal for Freedom (from hunger, slavery, debt ... ) on Saturday, 26th June. It ended on Saturday night with a huge (and delicious) B.B.Q., followed by a lock-in in the church 'till the morning. The Young Christians led the service at 10.00 a.m. and were very tired at this point, having been woken up at 7 in the morning by a Vicar in a chef's hat! The whole thing was a huge success, a lot of money was raised (nearly £500) and resulted in an interesting slant on the usual Family Service. It was very enjoyable and the Young Christians look forward to doing another one next year.

The Family Service, very ably and pleasingly organised by the Young Christians after their 24 hour fast, was noteworthy in at least two respects. The first was a very creditable performance by our young musicians, known as the Bangers, Blowers and Scrapers, making another public appearance. Our thanks and congratulations to all those who have helped in their tuition and organisation of this musical group.

The second memorable event at the Family Service was a duologue examining the words of the Lord's Prayer. Though the original source of the duologue appears unknown, the overall message was very thought provoking and the first part is reproduced here. It is hoped to conclude the duologue in later issues. Again our thanks to the leaders of the Young Christians who arranged the events described above, and perhaps more importantly, for their work every week for our Young Christians.
