The 1895 Organ

Provided at a cost of over £700 in 1895, the first organ marked the end of a major period of expenditure for Bunbury Church: the completion of major repairs to the Ridley Chapel, the addition of two extra bells, taking the total to 8 and the installation of the new organ. The original organ was built by the Huddersfield firm of Connachers who had a fine reputation locally at that time. The organ case that you currently see if you stand by the tomb in the chancel was part of the original design with the console sited underneath in an area which is currently used for storage.

The instrument was inaugurated on St. Boniface day - 5th June 1895. Musicians from Chester and Stoke, as well as locals, were involved in a day of services (two) and recitals (two) - quite something for a Wednesday!
